4 out of 5 stars Great for a canned green tea!   August 27, 2008
Charlie Blackwood (Cambridge, MA)
The small steel cans of Dr. Weil tea actually do maintain flavor quite well. This particular green tea always tastes fresh and clean, never bitter or oversteeped. While empirically on the pricey side, they're great if you would otherwise be buying a green tea beverage from a tea shop!

Wow.

Upon opening, it smelled like Chef Boyardee Beefaroni.

Initial taste is thinly metallic.

The aftertaste is where this beverage really earns it's money.

The taste that washes over you is that of burnt shrimp.

If you are into that then this is absolutely worth purchasing.

ps. it also made my nose run for about 30 minutes afterwards....

2 out of 5 stars bitter taste   March 21, 2008

I am sure this is good for me, but I really have to be in the mood. It needs a bit of fruit juice to sweeten it up a bit.

PRODUCT OF JAPAN.

Gyokuro is GREEN TEA. I had no idea what the name was, but I took a gamble and ordered it. It is good room temperature or cold. Quite refreshing.

On the front of the can, Gyokuro is described as "Deep Rich Vital". On the rear, it says "Traditionally served to honored guests, this elegant, shade-grown green tea offers an unmistakable, fresh taste."

I love the taste of this stuff, though the smell was off-putting at first.

I got it on sale for $20, I don't know if I'd pay full price.
