Chipotle in Adobo Sauce is a canned product made of chipotle chiles, tomato, vinegar, vegetables, oil and spices. The word "chipotle" translates to "smoked chile". Because these chipotles are smoked jalapeno chiles, it gives them a unique, hot, smoky flavor which is popular in many southwestern dishes. These peppers are about 1-1/2 to 3 inches in length and have a deep reddish-brown color. Consider the chipotle a 6.5 on a scale of 1-10. These chipotle chiles are packed into a tomato-based sauce named "Adobo".
