1 out of 5 stars Flavor didn't make it entirely inedible, but the smell sure did.   May 25, 2008

This is among a bunch of other products I ordered based on a high number of positive reviews alone, and this is the first one that I regret.

I can't imagine I received a bad batch, and I don't consider myself a picky eater, because I'm perfectly content to stick a slice of cheese and some catsup between two slices of bread and nuke it for a quick meal, something my friends tell me is absolutely disgusting.

Likewise, it's not a dislike of Indian food, I happily eat offerings at a local Indian restaurant, including curried spinach, and I was excited to try this out after having tried Gits Tikka Masala, Medium, 10.5-Ounce Packages (Pack of 10).

Gits must have spoiled me, because this did not hold a candle to that expertly prepared dish. The color and texture looks like sludge, and the pieces of paneer are tiny and sparse. I tasted a little, shrugged my shoulders and put it in the microwave. Upon pulling it out, I did not get the heady aroma of curry I was expecting, but instead something that smelled more like my fish tank when it's in need of cleaning. Likewise the flavor wasn't any better warm than it had been cold.

I tried to eat a little with rice, and ended up having to toss the rice too, because I couldn't stand the smell long enough to eat any more. I don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of it, since I wouldn't dare foist this on a shelter. They may be homeless and hungry, but they deserve better than this.

5 out of 5 stars Declicious!   February 11, 2008

I normally hate spinach, but I love this stuff. Like an Indian version of creamed spinach, with much more flavor.

Beware, this stuff is mildly spicy.

3 out of 5 stars Too Salty   January 27, 2008

The sodium amount is 693 mg per serving with 2 servings per box. It tastes too salty also. Adding things like unsalted rice & beans helps. I do like the intensity of the other spices and the ease of use and storage.

5 out of 5 stars Not So Pretty But Absolutely Delicious   January 19, 2008
Doris R. Kem (Muncie, IN USA)
I just received my case of Kashmir Spinach by Tasty Bite today. I served it with brown rice and a salad. I must say that the color of the spinach is brownish green (not the prettiest), but the flavor was great! This dish has a little heat, but not too much. And the spices made this a very enjoyable dish to eat. Don't be turned off by the color. It is a great tasting dish.

4 out of 5 stars Tasty and fast   January 13, 2008

Tasty Bite Entrees are a real time saver. The Kashmir Spinach is very good; however, my favorite is still the eggplant. I never buy any of their Entrees that contain rice since almost anybody can make rice for a few cents. The spinach is kind of mushed up so the only chunks are the Paneer. You need some rice or Naan with this one.
